The barrier islands of Louisiana’s Mississippi Delta are a nursery ground for thousands upon thousands of gulls, terns, pelicans, skimmers, and other birds. In this short video, hundreds of young Royal Terns run about on the beaches of the Isles Dernieres. They cannot fly yet, so the young birds have banded together in what’s known as a creche and wait for their parents to bring fish to them.
